Why We Ask for Information Updates

February 24, 2025 by Carol Higgins-Taylor

We ask you to update your healthcare registration every year to ensure your personal information, insurance details, and contact information are accurate, allowing for proper billing and communication, especially if there have been any life changes like address updates, new dependents, or changes in insurance coverage throughout the year. It is also a requirement for Federally Qualified Health Centers from the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Key reasons for annual updates:

  • Insurance changes:

Your insurance plan might change annually, with new coverage options or different copay amounts, so your medical office needs to have the latest information to accurately bill your insurance provider.

  • Demographic updates:

Personal details like address, phone number, or emergency contact information could change, requiring updates to ensure the office can reach you if needed.

  • Eligibility verification:

Healthcare providers may need to verify your eligibility for certain services based on your current insurance plan and income level, which can vary year to year.
